Nadezhda Aleksandrovna Lukhmanova (nee Baikova, 1844-1907) was born in a noble family and received an excellent education at the Pavlovsk Institute of noble girls. The writer published her main works in adulthood, among them a novel-recall of institutions, which is called "Girls".
