Nadezhda Aleksandrovna Lukhmanova (nee Baikova, 1844-1907) was born in a noble family and received an excellent education at the Pavlovsk Institute of noble girls. In St. Petersburg, Nadezhda met a young graduate of the Institute of Railway Engineers, the son of a wealthy Tyumen merchant. After the wedding, the young departed to their husband’s homeland, in Tyumen. Later, in her "essays from life in Siberia" (1895), the writer will call this city "dull places". The young writer tried to fit into the life of the Tyumen merchants, carefully watched the surrounding life, absorbed her beauty and sensations. She expressed all this in her works dedicated to Siberia (the novels "Migrants" and "In Deaf places" were published in 1895, the original comedy "Siberian Rigoletto" - in 1900)
Since 1890, the writer began cooperation in Pravda, "Petersburg life" and other publications, then wrote theatrical reviews in the News, collaborated in the New Time. The leitmotif of the whole life and work of the writer was the "female question".
The writer published her main works in adulthood, among them a novel-recall of institutions, which is called "Girls".
In her life, Nadezhda Alexandrovna wrote about thirty books. For almost a whole century, an unfairly forgotten literary heritage is impressive by an abundance and genre diversity: novels, novels, stories, essays, original and translated plays
