The textbook considers a set of objective prerequisites for the process of informatization of education, in particular the computerization of a special school, highlights the positive and negative aspects of the use of IT in education, and the methodological foundations of studying computer science in a special school are explained. A review of specialized and non-specialized software tools is given, which have become most popular among practitioners. Particular attention is paid to modern technologies for special training: the possibilities of applying multimedia technologies for training and correctional purposes are explicated, the requirements and recommendations for electronic textbooks for people with psychophysical development disorders are formulated, and a set of urgent problems associated with remote learning is considered. For additional consideration, information on the history and development of information technologies necessary for the modern user IT is given.
