The book "In the struggle for the latest art" (art and revolution) is the memoirs of one of the most prominent theorists of the Russian avant-garde Nikolai Punin about the events of 1916-1917 that took place in Petrograd. Many of the events described by the author as an eyewitness will become known to the reader for the first time. The book was never printed before, only one chapter from it was published in several Soviet publications. In his memoirs, Punin not only subtly analyzes the facts and builds the patterns of the events surrounding him, but also describes them in an excellent literary language.
The publication is the most complete version of memoirs, compiled on the basis of archival materials preserved in the family. It was prepared for printing by the descendants of Punin - Anna Kaminskaya, Peter and Nikolai Zykov with the participation of Andrei Sarabianov.
