In the monograph, prepared in the Russian Federation of the Research Institute under the Rach with the involvement of a wide range of domestic experts and the author from the UK, the role of the Imperial Academy of Arts in the Russian culture of the second half of the XVIII - early XX centuries is investigated. Particular attention is paid to topical and least developed issues, the study of which became largely possible only in recent years. The participation of the Academy of Arts in projects of all -Russian and regional significance is analyzed, its contribution to the development of art education in Russia. The history of the Academy of Arts is also shown through the creative fate of the people associated with it. The application publishes the latest museum and unique archival material. The book is complemented by a rare illustrative material.
