The book was written by psychologists, sociologists and defectologists who have been involved in the problem of children"s and adolescence for many years, conducting practical work on the introduction of children and adolescents to read in the Russian State Children"s Library, as well as in institutions of higher and secondary education in Moscow. The team of authors - Berezina A.V., Zhuravleva E.A., Kolosova E.A., Malakhova N.G., Khoroshavina E.V., Chudinova V.P. Research data is supplemented by a description of practical forms and methods of working with children and adolescents aimed at familiarizing them with reading, as well as analysis and recommendations for choosing books relevant for reading at one or another age.
The publication consists of several chapters that analyze the problems of reading children and adolescents, the features of reader development at different age stages (preschool, junior school, teenage and youth) and the psychological foundations of the librarian with children of these ages.
The book also covers the basics of career guidance in the library, the basics of the librarian with parents of small readers, including the principles of the librarian with children with disabilities and behaviors.
The publication is addressed to librarians working with children and adolescents, who currently acutely need actual knowledge about the characteristics of the mental development of children at a particular age stage, how these features affect their reading and familiarization with the book, literature.
