The book for the first time introduces readers with the history of the houses of the first Moscow theater school, founded in 1809 on a special decree of Emperor Alexander I. The book talks about endless moves and changing addresses, about the history of the buildings themselves and the stages of development of theater school and theatrical education in Russia related to historical The events of that time, about the life of the pupils of the school. It is written on the basis of genuine historical documents and memoirs of the XIX and XX centuries, collected over many years of work in the archives of Moscow and St. Petersburg, and suggests that this tremendous, stubborn and painstaking work is a special type of documentary book.
Illustrative material is of particular interest, which is largely published for the first time.
It remains to wish the reader not to stay away from acquaintance with the history of the houses of the first Moscow Theater School, now called as the Higher Theater School (Institute) named after M. S. Shchepkina and which on December 28, 2019 turned 210 years old
