History of styles of elegant arts

How is Gothic different from Empire, Rococo - from Baroque, and the "style of regency" - from the "style of Louis XVI"? At the beginning of the 20th century, the famous art critic Ernst Kon-Viner created the best book that will tell you about the development and features of art styles. In just ten years, this work withstood several reprints and was translated into leading European languages, becoming popular not only among serious art historians, but also among schoolchildren and students.
The con-viner traces the evolution of art from the era of Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome until the end of the 19th century, showing how the stylistics and techniques in architecture and painting changed. A separate chapter is devoted to Russian art.
