Historical Dynamics: How States Emerge and Collapse. On the Path to Theoretical History

This book is devoted to a new and promising interdisciplinary approach --- theoretical, or mathematical, history. Within the framework of this approach, mathematical models of historical processes are built, and the results of modeling are compared with the data available to researchers. This gives a new, deeper understanding of a number of patterns of historical development. This approach is based on the ideas and models of the theory of self-organization --- synergetics.
The book considers the territorial dynamics of agrarian states. Corresponding mathematical models were built. It is shown that the growth or decrease in the territories of states radically depends on only a few key factors. From the standpoint of the proposed theory, the historical development of Russia and France is considered.
