Hendrick Goltsius is an outstanding Dutch master who became famous for his engravings. They became his hobby - and therefore were made in a special manner, which allocated Goltsius from the general row, glorified him, allowing him to call a great master. He stands on a par with Dürer and Rembrandt, in the work of which engravings also occupied a considerable place. Hendrick Goltsius will create his own cutting engraving school. By the end of his life, when his hand crippled in early childhood began to weaken, he will write remarkable picturesque works of an allegorical nature.
