Great women are artists

This book tells more than four hundred women who created art for five centuries. The very first of the women -artists included in it was born in 1490, the youngest in 1990. Many of them do not consider their belonging to the female sex the determining factor in their artistic activity. And this book is not a review of feminist art or a sample of works of art about "female experience" and "female plots". The works of art presented here, as a rule, go beyond the scope of gender themes. They serve here to demonstrate the widest variety of approaches to the plot, material, shape and technique, in principle existing in contemporary art. In general, this book is the result of a huge work, which was conducted for several decades and the purpose of which was the study of the creative activity of artists who left their mark in history. At the same time, it is dedicated to now living artists around the world, whose work indicates their inexhaustible creative power
