Mikhail Evgrafovich Saltykov-Shchedrin (1826-1889)-Russian writer, critic and journalist. In his works, Saltykov-Shchedrin raised acute social issues, topics of morality and morality in his contemporary society.
“The gentlemen of Golovlevova” (1880)-a cycle of stories about the landowner Golovlevy family. Later, the author decided to combine these stories into the novel.
