The material of the famous three -volume "course of general physics" was built taking into account the characteristics of physics teaching in universities and universities that training in natural science, technical and pedagogical areas. Conclusions and evidence are given on examples with the simplest geometry, for symmetrical contours and fields. In some cases, the generalization of the above evidence is based on purely physical considerations that are more important for assimilation than bulky mathematical conclusions. The first volume contains the presentation of the basics of mechanics, molecular physics, the basics of thermodynamics, physics of real gases, liquids and solids, the doctrine of vibrations, waves and sound. The textbook is intended for students of higher educational institutions studying in technical, natural science and pedagogical specialties.
