From the temple in the landscape - to "Crucifixion". Christian motives, images, plots in Russian painting

The publication is devoted to the disclosure of one of the phenomena of the artistic life of the twentieth century - religious problems in the art of the Soviet era. The author considers the machine painting of the 1950s-early 1990s, without affecting church art itself.
The book analyzes the gradual entry into the canvases of recognizable Christian motifs (temple, icons, advances, meals, etc), largely associated with the revival of interest in ancient Russian art, work on individual gospel scenes, as well as spiritual searches in indescribable creativity and biblical stories in the painting of non-conformist artists.
The proposed interpretations of a number of works that reflect the moral problems of Russian society and fix the stages of its spiritual history can significantly expand the ideas about the culture of the post -war era.
