According to the author, one of the significant trends in the development of architecture of the early XXI century is not rationalism. This approach has deep historical roots, being a continuation of the general rationalistic tradition of Western European and domestic design. Its genesis is considered by the author in the genre of creative biographies of architects. The work presents the concepts of Zemper, El. Saarinena, M. Ya. Ginzburg, L. Kan, K. Kikutaka, F. Hundertwasser, H. Mak, F. Geri, P. Tsumtor, N. Grimshou, K. Aleksander, R. Vignoli. The methodology used in the work makes it possible to include the analysis of individual architectural objects in a wide sociocultural context. Addressed to architects, urbanists, designers, culturalists, students of creative universities and everyone who is interested in the modern architectural process.
