In his estate Yasnaya Polyana and in the vicinity of the village of Tolstoy founded schools for peasant children . A year after their opening, the writer went abroad to find out how public education is arranged in European schools. Tolstoy wanted to create his own education system in the Yasnaya Polyanskaya school: he abolished all the rules of discipline and canceled pedagogical programs.
In 1862, the writer began publishing the pedagogical magazine Yasnaya Polyana with books for reading. In 1872, L. Tolstoy was published - a school manual for teaching children to read, writing and arithmetic. The alphabet consisted of four books, including short stories, epics, fables, riddles for children, as well as recommendations to teachers, methodological tips and general comments. According to the alphabet, children could easily learn to write, count and read.
Tolstoy often wrote about peasant children in his tales and stories. Instructive and good stories allow us to plunge into the world of a simple Russian village, where heroes, thanks to perseverance, strength of spirit and friendliness, reach their goals and realize their dreams.
The collection includes stories, fairy tales and epics from the alphabet L.N. Tolstoy.
