Far Eastern dream of European masters

The book is devoted to the analysis of the principles of the work of European stones and jewelers with the Far Eastern artistic heritage and its role in the stylistic development of stone and jewelry art of the second half of the XIX - the first third of the 20th century. The first two parts of the book introduce the history of "oriental styles" in European decorative and applied art, as well as changes in the ways and mechanisms of the penetration of exotic motives into the art of Europe in the second half of the 19th century. The consideration of Chinese and Japanese reminiscences is divided into four stylistic chronological periods, which made it possible to systematize specific artistic material and identify internal patterns in the approaches of European artists to work with exotic material. The monograph contains a short reference book of the main masters and workshops, whose works are considered in the book
