The enormous historical canvas of the most famous artist of the 20th century Ilya Sergeyevich Glazunov “Eternal Russia”, our compatriots first saw at his grandiose exhibition in the capital"s arena in 1988. And then many, maybe for the first time in our life, thought: how little we know our own history. Peering into the images of people who represented our great and eternal homeland, now and then asked the neighbors: And who is this? And next to him? ... And naturally, I wanted to know: why these personalities were honored to be a captured brush of a great artist on a canvas with such a binding name.
Now the picture “Eternal Russia” can be calmly and thoughtfully examined, even studied in the art gallery of the People"s Artist of the USSR Ilya Glazunov in Moscow. And this extreme historical depths can tell a lot to the inquisitive viewer.
A book is proposed - this is an attempt to tell about the characters of Eternal Russia at least a few words, taking into account modern changes in the former assessments of the most important figures of Russia.
