The book proposed to the reader, containing elementary introduction to the theory of probability, was written in 1946 by two outstanding mathematicians, classics of probabilities of B.V. Gnedenko (1912-1995) and A.Ya. Khinchin (1894-1959) She withstood several publications in the USSR with a total circulation of more than half a million copies, was published in thirteen foreign countries, and was translated into fifteen languages. It received the first acquaintance with the science of random hundreds of thousands of future mathematicians, engineers, physicists, economists, biologists, doctors, soil scientists, psychologists, sociologists and simply interested in this direction of science.
The book makes minimal requirements to the reader --- to understand all its parts, there are enough mathematical knowledge gained in high school. The presentation is based on the consideration of examples of practical content, which are stated so that the reader is clear the scientific significance of the introduced concepts and the displayed rules.
The book will be useful both to students of higher educational institutions, and to everyone who is interested in probability theory
