"The book is devoted to an insufficiently studied, but very common, complex stylistic phenomenon in regional Russian architecture - provincial eclecticism. The text contains a brief overview of the development of Nizhny Novgorod architecture of the XIX - early XX centuries (on the example of Nizhny Novgorod - the fourth largest in the city of the European part of Russia) It is the works made in eclecticism that currently determine the appearance of the historical center of the ancient city, which is approaching its anniversary - the 800th anniversary of the foundation. The book discusses the main stylistic directions in the Nizhny Novgorod architecture of this period, namely, varieties of eclecticism as a dominant stylistic phenomenon. The definition of each of the considered stylistic currents within the eclecticism is given, their characteristic features and features are given. The architectural works of the era of eclecticisms related to the work of famous Russian and Nizhny Novgorod architects, leaders of one or another direction are analyzed. The application gives: brief biographical certificates about the life and activities of architectural masters who performed projects and buildings in Nizhny Novgorod, a dictionary of architectural terms and tables of features of the composition of facades and decor in the works of eclecticism in Nizhny Novgorod in all stages of its evolution.
