The publication is based on a master"s special seminar held by the author at the Department of History and Theory of Christian Art of the Faculty of Church Art of PSTU, as well as many years of research of early Christian, Byzantine and Western European church architecture. The published photographic material is based mostly in the photographs of the author.
A textbook will help to compose an idea of the dynamics of the development of mutual stylistic penetrations of the East and West in the early Christian, Byzantine and medieval church architecture. If, at the early stage of the formation of Christian architecture, it was rather homogeneous due to its common ancient basis throughout the Roman Empire, then in the future, after increasing the discrepancies on many issues of the political, religious, national and artistic nature between the eastern and western parts of the empire, there was a gradual demarcation The general early Christian style of architecture on the Byzantine and early Roman.
