In the monograph, an attempt was made to present a picture of the Soviet post-war and post-Soviet drama from the 1950s to the present day, from V. Rozov to I. Vaskovskaya. The author has two tasks: to take a look at the development of Soviet dramaturgy from the point of view of man at the beginning of the 21st century, when the canon of the Soviet theater is no longer in power over the current theatrical reality, and to support the idea of the continuity of the development of a modern play in Russia. The researcher refutes the opinion of the abyss between generations and emphasizes that the artistic and moral searches of the authors of the Soviet period are not interrupted, but find a continuation in the drama of modern times. The book represents the names of not only known (A. Arbuzov, A. Vampilov, L. Petrushevskaya, V. Erofeev, N. Kolyada, E. Grishkovets, V. Sigarev and others, but also almost forgotten authors. Some chapters are devoted to individual phenomena - production the play, "Manor dramaturgy", "New Drama", documentary theater, etc. P.
