In a monograph, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of F.M. Dostoevsky, discusses the most important aesthetic and artistic problem of adequate embodiment of the biographies of great writers on the movie screen, reveals artistic meanings and creative strategies, the truth and fiction of screen images. The difference in approaches to the adaptations of literary works and to biographical cinema, which is based on the biographies of historical persons, that is, real, and not fictional material, is proved. In the work on the film booking, the problem of directorial skill is seen not only as aesthetic, but also as an ethical problem. Each of the fifteen chapters of the monograph on the material of domestic and foreign screen biographies of Pushkin, Lermontov, Byron, Gogol, Leo Tolstoy analyzes the problem of the authenticity and reliability of biographical cinema.
In the focus of the author’s attention - the image of F.M. Dostoevsky in biographical cinema, semantic and qualitative differences in the aesthetics of documentary and feature films. The space of culture, in addition to cinema, also contains the aesthetics of everyday life, where the name of Dostoevsky is actively present - as a symbol of the country, as the name of Russia. For the first time, the domestic blogosphere is also analyzed, which sees in the author of the "diary of the writer" his forerunner and predecessor
