A doll as a person’s prototype is a unique object of traditional culture. Each nation created an anthropomorphic figure in their own image and likeness. The book presents game, ritual, theatrical and souvenir dolls from the collection of the Russian ethnographic museum.
Design features, selected materials, as well as techniques for achieving artistic expressiveness of the doll, reflect the ethnic or regional traditions of their creators living in the vast territory of our country and adjacent states. In addition to a historical excursion and a detailed story about the use of a doll in the game, rite, collecting, the publication includes a practical section with a description of the technology for the manufacture of dolls based on samples from the museum collection.
