Dictionary Gorodina

The idea of ​​the dictionary arose at the moment when Leonid Moiseevich Gorodin (1907-1994) finished work on the memories of 15 years of his life in camps and exile - the defective stories of “one -story”. The author of the stories realized that some words from the life of the Politicals will be incomprehensible and the reader needs a “dictionary of mentioned words from camp everyday life”. So Gorodin collected the first 130 words. He then did not know that there were twenty years of work on the dictionary ahead.
The author did not have time to prepare the dictionary for the press. This work is a valuable monument of culture, so it is published in the author’s version. Academic development of materials collected by Gorodin is still ahead. The Dictionary of Russian Argotisms is a certificate of the time of political repressions, a literary monument, and its vocabulary articles are relevant today. This shadow segment of the language has developed on the territory of lack of freedom and still affects us, speaking, reading, writing in Russian in the 21st century.
Gorodin readers will be easier to understand why this zone of pitch hell, which came out due to barbed wire and largely dictating speech skills to new generations, does not leave.
