The dictionary of explanations and comments on the story of Sasha Sokolov “between the dog and the wolf” to help readers (primarily foreigners, schoolchildren and citizens), studying classical and modern Russian literature. The plan of the dictionary arose in Boris Ostanin in 1982, then he wrote several vocabulary articles, after which the work was postponed for a long time. In 2019, after 37 years, the drafts to the dictionary were discovered and the efforts of Boleslav Martynov were brought to a printed look. Separate corrections and additions belong to Sasha Sokolov, Sergey Zavyalov and Viktor Lapitsky
