Degas acutely felt the beauty and frightening brevity of moments of life, and his work accurately and uncompromisingly recreates the time in which he lived. He was close to impressionism, but all the time he was looking for new ways through which he could express himself.
Dega was fond of historical painting, was a wonderful master of the portrait. He painted the paintings using the techniques of impressionism. However, he did not limit himself to either the form or the content of what he performed in painting. And he managed to convey to the audience his love of life through the brightness and brevity of its moments. So the artist saw his creative task: accurately and uncompromisingly painting time
