“Destroy” (1926) is the autobiographical novel by Alexander Alexandrovich Fadeev (1901–1956), one of the most famous works dedicated to the Civil War in Russia, in it the writer, on the example of the life of the Red Partisan detachment, sought to show the spirit of time. The novel is a natural sketch of one of the episodes of the war, displaying these events as reliable as possible, without silence and propaganda. The book tells which people fought on the side of the Soviet regime, shows the victims they had to make, and explains why these people eventually won. The author condemns the cowardice, selfishness and arrogance that separate a person from the team and lead a final moral decay. Fadeev’s novel makes us think about humility in the face of difficulties and difficult trials that need to be experienced by rallying: people need to be held together and fight for a common idea
