Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860-1904) is a great Russian writer, a classic of world literature, one of the most famous playwrights.
Chekhov was born in the Primorsky town of Taganrog, in the family of a merchant, a former serf. Being one of the eldest sons, he worked in his father’s grocery shop, sang in a church choir. Having graduated from the Taganrog gymnasium, he left for Moscow and entered the medical faculty of Moscow University, after studying in which he worked for six years in Zvenigorodsky district. At the age of 18, having written the first play ("Naleshchina"), Chekhov continues to engage in writing. 1885-1886 - The heyday of Chekhov as a "miniaturist fiction": by his admission, he writes on a story a day, as a rule, under the pseudonyms of Antosh Chekhonte and a person without a spleen (it was believed that this organ is responsible for a smile), "Death of an official" and " He overcreased " - from such one -day humor. The glory of Chekhov is growing. For the author’s collection "at dusk", the Imperial Academy of Sciences awards him a prestigious Pushkin Prize. This was one of the reasons why the young doctor at the age of 27 leaves medical practice and devotes himself to writing. Soon fans of his work will be Maxim Gorky, Dmitry Grigorovich, Leo Tolstoy.
Features of Chekhov’s style - the impassivity of the narrative and attention to the little things and everyday life, which brighter scenes draw the real state of things: "people dine, only have lunch, and at this time their happiness is composed and their lives are broken. ”
Chekhov was the first in the literature to designate the image of the provincial layman, his limited philistine happiness, existence, devoid of spiritual aspiration. This is a "teacher of literature": "trifle from the life of provincial guinea pigs". Such, and even worse, "man in a case" is a walking example of the inertness of thoughts, ready to ban even a bicycle. Apart is a "shower" - "movement from satire to lyrics" (according to the critic of the paperny), a female portrait in which many recognize themselves
