The book of a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the rector of the St. Petersburg Humanitarian University of Trade Unions A. S. Zapesotsky is devoted to understanding the problems of the modern world by the methods of cultural studies.
The work includes the materials presented by him over the past 22 years to the annual scientific forum of SPbSUP, the initiator of which was the academician D. S. Likhachev in 1993. In 2001, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin "On perpetuating the memory of D. S. Likhachev, this forum was given the state status of international Likhachevsky scientific readings. For 27 years, leading scientists and public figures from around the world gather in the walls of the university to discuss the global problems of our time.
