Comments on Euclid"s book "Elements: Books I-XV"

The presented volume contains comments on the work of the “beginning” of Euclid, publishing in our publishing house simultaneously with this book. The translation of the “beginning” of the famous domestic mathematician, historian of science, methodologist and teacher D. D. Morduhai-Boltovsky (1876–1952) is considered by many researchers the most accurate Russian translation of the work of ancient Greek mathematics from existing today. Comments of the translator collected in this publication are equipped with a large number of links to specialized literature used by the author of translation, which can be useful to specialists. Comments will help the modern reader better understand the mathematical content of “principles” and the continuity of their provisions, their historical connection with modern mathematical science.
In addition to the very work of Euclid D. D. Morduhai-Boltovskaya, also considers the content of the books of XIV-XV, the authorship of which was only attributed to Euclid, which can be interesting both from the point of view of the mathematical content of these books and in the historical and scientific aspect .
