"Comic Theater" (1750) is a dramatic manifesto of Carlo Goldoni, carried directly to theatrical stage. This is not only the very first time, but also the most complete confession of the faith of the great theater reformer: Goldoni has repeatedly performed with software statements, but here they are collected in a single text. The goals that he pursued, carrying out the reform of the comedy, the principles laid down on the basis of new poetics - all this is presented during the rehearsal, with the representation of the troupe, with colorful professional and household details. As an addition, Goldoni"s preface to the first assembly of his plays is published, which tells how he came to the idea of reform.
