Collector

Georgy Dionisovich Kostaki is an outstanding collector of the 20th century. In his autobiographical notes, he describes childhood and youth, a special patriarchal way of life of the Greek family in Moscow, the years of the revolution, the NEP era and the dramatic 1930s. His fascination with the collecting of icons, painting of "small" Dutch and porcelain was soon replaced by real passion and a special kind of research activity aimed at studying and collecting works by artists of the Russian avant -garde - M. Sagala, V. Kandinsky, N. Goncharova, M. Larionov, V. Tatlin, I. Kudryashova, A. Drodchenko, I. Puni. Gradually, his collection turned into a unique museum of the Russian avant -garde.
