Classics and "New Classicism" France, Italy (1919 - 1939)

The work considers the problem of including classic motives (thematic and stylistic) in the context of the art of modernism. A long period of following the classical paradigm, with the modification and expansion of its visual capabilities, in fact, is suitable for completion in the era of romanticism, when the principle of normativity, creativity within the established standards was called into question. However, the abandonment of indisputable truths embodied in the "perfect" form, in fact, meant the return to the truly classical thinking, originating and ripening in the situation of Agon - an open discussion, where in the competition of the arguments there was a search for truth. In this atmosphere of discussion, a critical study, there was a culture of ancient Greece, where artistic forms were found later recognized as classical. In fact, the same way followed the art of the Renaissance, which reached the heights in the mimetic arts of painting and sculpture.
