The publication was released for the exhibition, held at the Museum from September 22 to November 15, 2015, prepared by the Pushroom, together with the Art Museum of Cancer and the National Museum of Modern Art in Kyoto, the Japanese Fund and the Embassy of Japan in Russia.
Ceramics of Cancer arose in the last quarter of the 16th century in Kyoto (the then capital of Japan), combining the traditions of a refined capital"s culture and the ideals of an influential military estate, noted by the influence of the philosophy of Zen Buddhism.
Creating bowls for the traditional Japanese tea ceremony, for almost 450 years, masters of the dynasty of cancer pass the secrets of skill from generation to generation, absorbing the trends of time, adapting to new historical conditions and maintaining the absolute identity of their works. Cups -rack are not just utilitarian objects, each of them is a kind of quintessence of time and surrounding space.
