The new book of Natalia Ivanova is moving from the story of the literary life of our days to the difficult and dramatic plots of the recent history of Russian literature. In the first section, the reader will pass through the whole gallery of names and works. With a mocking seriousness, the author talks about meetings and episodes, intrigues and scandals, prizes and book fairs, international conferences and embarrassed incidents, joys and disappointments, exalted writer"s dreams and not always high literary life. In the second section, we are talking about the principles of creating prose, about how the literary canon is formed, how the classics are produced in, what is the language of modern literature and where the metaphor lives. In the third part, Natalya Ivanova turns to specific fate and conflicts of the classics, from Boris Pasternak to Osip Mandelstam and Joseph Brodsky, from Viktor Nekrasov to George Vladimov and Fazil Iskander, each of which was subjected to testing (not glory) Based on the law: the life of a real writer, and not just his works, is the result of his work
