In the first half of the 1920s, Berlin became the most important center of Russian literature abroad. Here, there is a formation of a special writing environment in which biographical questions “where and how to live” are associated with poetological issues? -? How and for whom to write further. The key figures of the Russian Berlin include Vladislav Khodasevich (1886–1939), who begins to write “European Night” in Germany? -? His last and most famous book of poems. In lyrical images and poetic narratives, the action of which takes place at the Pomeranian-Brandenburg resorts or in the Urbanic Ugar Metropolis, Khodasevich develops methods of writing and self-description of literature, which largely became paradigmatic for the poetry of Russian emigration. At the sunset of old Europe, Berlin turns into a chronotope of the defeatical clearance, the poetic and biographical point of the non -return of the deno, and the lyrical hero remains one? - to force and protocol the painful decomposition of Russian modernism. It is amazing that the “European Night”, such an important book for both Khodasevich and for Russian poetry as a whole, is still insufficiently studied.
