The textbook discusses general information on the behavior of buildings and structures in a fire, based on estimates of fire resistance of building structures made of various building materials: reinforced concrete, metal, wood, stone materials. Approaches to the evaluation of fire resistance operated and reconstructed buildings and structures. The properties, fire hazard and behavior of building materials in a fire based on their classification are considered. Possible technical solutions to reduce the fire danger of various types of building materials are given. The basic principles of limiting the spread of a fire in the internal volumes of buildings and structures, contributing to its speedy localization, are substantiated. The methodology for calculating the fire compartment area is presented with regard to the limits of fire resistance of the supporting structures of buildings and structures. The types and types of fire prevention obstacles of various purposes, the areas of their application and the features of constructive execution are considered. Particular attention is paid to the device of fire barriers to the rooms categorized in the explosion and fire hazard.
