In the important matter of preserving and updating the historical and architectural heritage, research with a design and practical orientation has special weights, since a simple statement of the value of a particular object is no longer enough to preserve it. The work of A.V. Dolgova and M. A. Krapivin not just represents the architectural heritage of the village. Bilimbai, the Sverdlovsk region, but shows a system of thoughtful interconnected changes in objects and territories that are interesting for the administration, entrepreneurs, developers, residents. The assembly as the subject of studying the historical-architectural and historical and urban planning heritage, it would seem, a small village is quite justified in the Urals, Industrial settlements of which have a clear invariant nucleus. These are architectural proposals of a very high level, the study of which will help interested parties and specialists of other Ural cities of the factory better present the prospects for their development. The structure of the monograph synthesizes the historical and logical aspects. The authors begin with issues of the identity of the territory, focusing with regard to the village at the Bilimbaevsky cottage of the Stroganovs, who created the Chugun -smelting plant in 1734. Further, proposals for the allocation of protection zones are substantiated, while the historical features of the place, both urban planning and sociocultural ones, are taken into account. The main part of the work presents the projects for the preservation and development of the most authentic and significant objects of the village, from the Chugun -smelting factory of the Stroganovs and the churches of the Holy Trinity under him - to the house of the manager of the Bilimbaevsky mountain district of N. A. Tunev (in which the post office is now located) and the Bilimbai railway station, performed at the beginning of the 20th century in the forms of Russian modern. Factographic and cartographic material presented in the monograph has high quality, including due to additional processing of the source photographs and documents. The completeness of his presentation makes the book a kind of assistant to any person for whom the work with the inheritance of the small industrial cities of the Urals is significant. Monography is distinguished by the thoughtfulness of the conceptual and methodological foundations of the rehabilitation of the industrial historical and architectural heritage. The authors represent and evaluate the potential of the village. Bilimbai as a unique urban planning whole, which has all the signs and elements of the classic Ural city-warehouse. At the same time, they distinguish elements of identity, then special and unique that is in the subject-spatial environment and the history of the village. The work is written with love and respect for the legacy. At the same time, it shows possible prospects for the development of the territory in the near future.
