The tasks of choosing structures, comprehensive accounting of the distribution of functions and the performance of computers are considered. Methods are set out to determine the shortest structures of computers for the terminals distributed in the territory, the methodology for determining the shortest structures with a given configuration. The features of the functioning of the computer network are characterized, taking into account the shortest routes, traffic volumes, duplication of territorially placed servers. Particular attention is paid to issues of a comprehensive assessment of computers. The main provisions of the author’s method of contours, based on polynomial approximation and detailing of the description of traffic routes, are set out to solve not only analysis tasks, but also optimization tasks. The models and methodology for calculating the parameters for productivity analysis for various options for terminal computer networks, WAN and ring LAN are considered. Solutions of optimization problems are given by the criterion of value costs.
