School knowledge builds the term "baroque" to the image of a pearl of irregular shape ". This image is associated with the general emotional background of the era: a sense of inner tension "between fiery passion and rigid, cold control, who seek to break out. Why did Shakespeare and John Donn talk about the destruction of all ties, and their younger contemporary Atanasius Kirher drew an explosive globe, permeated with the currents of internal fire? How does this correlate with the formula for self -awareness of the twentieth century? How is Baroque and its inherent shot scale of objects, mechanistic, combination of the incompatible, the invasion of science fiction in reality relate to modern culture? In his book, Vladislav Degtyarev considers the Baroque culture as a parallel and an alternative to the futuristic XX century and shows how the most diverse baroque intuitions remain frighteningly modern. Vladislav Degtyarev is a teacher of the RHGA, author of the book "Past as a field of creativity" (M.: UFO, 2018)
