This manual is the experience of a comprehensive study of the work of the largest Russian poet G.R. Derzhavin in the context of the development of Russian artistic and intellectual culture of his time. The work reveals the origins of the formation of the author’s consciousness of Derzhavin in the context of the Russian and European literary tradition of the new time, the characteristic of its philosophical and aesthetic interests is given, its cultural initiatives are evaluated and their significance is determined for the general development of Russian culture at the turn of the XVIII-XIX centuries.
