The writer Alexander Strazhevskaya, one of the heroines of this book, called the "auto tutes" and "poets" of the female literature: they continued to do their job, although the men refused them the right to intellectual work. The first collection, the first one of a kind, included articles of female critics written in the 1830-1870s-they are talking about the situation of a woman in society and participation in the literary process. Women entered Russian literature much earlier than it was customary to think, and they had something to say.
