Arithmetic for elementary school. Part 3. For the 3rd and 4th grades (1937)

The main objective of the “textbook of arithmetic” is to systematize arithmetic concepts and computational techniques, to accustom students to a brief, accurate, consistent mathematical speech and give a concise, habitable material for repetition. Therefore, the construction of a "textbook" is somewhat different from the construction of the program and tasks, which inevitably should conclude repetitions or concentric return to the issues passed.
Each new issue of the course should be worked out methodically without a textbook. At this time, students use the task book. The final stage in the study of this issue will be reading the textbook, first together with the teacher in the classroom, and then independently - in order to repeat the passed. The rules and generalizations are useful to periodically re -read with students.
The textbook of arithmetic serves as a guide for studying the theory of arithmetic in grades 3 and 4. Supplementing each other, the textbook and collection of tasks exhaust the arithmetic program of these years.
