The modern reprint edition of the book of M. Ya. Ginzburg "Architecture of the NCTP sanatorium in Kislovodsk, which was originally published in 1940. In the 1920s and early 1930s, Moses Ginzburg (1892-1946) was one of the most famous modern architects in the Soviet Union. His house of the People’s Commissar in Moscow remains a symbol of constructivism today, and his book "style and era", published in 1924, defined this new architectural style. Ginzburg"s book on the design and construction of the NCTP sanatorium in Kislovodsk is an important and indicative document of the era. She reveals the creative process of an architect who is strongly configured to remain as true as possible to his modernist principles, introducing the latest technological achievements in health resorts (the key aspect of Soviet life) and, at the same time, satisfying the requirements of officially established historicism. The introduction that welcomes the "self -criticism of architects in their slow adoption of the style of socialist realism shows the scale of this problem. And yet, despite some relatively insignificant concessions to the prevailing mood, Ginzburg, uniting and heading a group of their co -authors - outstanding architects of that time, such as the Vakhtangs, Humurg, Leonidov, Popov, etc., was able to design and build a truly modernist complex of buildings, which In fact, it was a continuation of the previous works of the architect. The integration of buildings and landscape, the subtlety of detailing and the thoughtful use of materials led to the creation of architecture of a large scale, which successfully escaped Soviet alterations. Located high above Kislovodsk, the sanatorium is still used. It is noteworthy that the prevailing part of the original works of Ginzburg, both internal and external, has survived to this day - another evidence of the persistent qualities of the building described in detail by the architect in this unique publication
