Despite the fact that for all centuries they took care of children, fed, treated, raised virtues in them and taught literacy, the humanities were little interested in children and childhood for a long time. The most diverse societies in various historical eras for the most part saw in the child primarily "source material" and actively “sculpted” from it the future adult. Features of a small person, his relationship with the world, childhood as an emergency stage in a person’s life, and even more so childhood as a special sphere of sociocultural space - all this was simply not noticed.
The presented collection of essays does not claim to be a consistent presentation of the anthropology of childhood. Rather, this is the space of the possibilities of studying childhood in the key of ethnography, psychology, history, folklorism, pedagogy, and together all these directions sometimes give a new vision of eternal themes
