The publication presents the reader with the results of research in the field of Russian iconography of the apocalypse, a very complex and extensive topic, first affected at the end of the 19th century, F.I. Buslaev. The author proves the fact of acquaintance of Russian artists with German printed graphics, which was reflected even on the earliest works that traditionally considered relying on the Byzantine tradition. The problem of Russian facial apocalypse is illuminated in the first part of the narrative, and specific motives indicating their origin are discussed in a special section, where illustrations are considered in detail for each of the 72 chapters of the explanatory apocalypse on the example of two manuscripts of the 16th century, the earliest surviving Russian illustrated manuscripts of revelation. The publication also includes articles about the iconography of the second coming of the Last Court and the Western European sources of ancient Russian apocalypsis in the context of the development of domestic art of the XVI-XVII centuries. The publication is completed by the application of N.P. Kondakov’s article-Reenses for the study of F. I. Buslaev about the Russian personal apocalypse. The book is addressed to art critics, historians and a wide range of people interested in Russian history and spiritual culture
