Altai folklore inherits the traditions of the Turkic-Mongolian folk literature, dating back to the early Middle Ages and, indirectly, to the earlier periods of the history of the Central Asian macro-region. In his essay, Bronez Bedyurov in vivid fiction sets out the story of Altai-Khangai in the context of ethnic history and a rich literary tradition, illustrating his theses with a collection of genuine folklore texts, both in direct presentation (indicating the narrator and place of recording) and in literary processing. The publication included the supplemented collection of Altai historical traditions, fairy tales, toponymic legends and samples of historical poetry, many of which are published in the Russian translation for the first time. Article Professor TSU, Doctor of Higher Professor L.I. Sherstova characterizes the meaning of Altai legends and legends as oral historical sources. Glossary and toponymic index, offering a new, more accurate alleitration of Altai terms, as well as translation into Russian, are included in the publication as accompanying materials
