The album "Alexander Palace in Tsarskoye Selo and the Romanovs" presents the reader with a wonderful monument of Russian history and architecture. The romantic, elegant luxury of the ceremonial Catherine Palace in the ensemble of Tsarskoye Selo, the Alexander Palace occupied a special place in the life of many generations of the imperial dynasty, from Catherine the Great to the family of Nikolai Second. In this residence, the heirs of the throne traditionally spent a honeymoon, royal children rested in the summer, and in the twentieth century a cozy palace on the shore of a quiet pond was destined to become the last family house of the Romanovs. After the revolution, the Alexander Palace was turned into a museum, but was badly damaged during the Patriotic War, and only today after a long scientific restoration, he again opens the door to visitors.
The story of the two hundred years of the history of the Alexander Palace is illustrated by archival photographs and ceremonial portraits, drawings of court artists and members of the imperial family, pictures of household items preserved to the present day, documents and decorated the palace of works of art. The album publishes rare auto chroma - unique pictures received according to one of the world"s first technologies of color photography and captured the interiors of the palace in 1917 as they were with the last crowned owners, as well as photographs of the pre -war museum exposition.
The publication is dedicated to the Aleksandrovsky Palace in Tsarskoye Selo and the Romanovs in the State Museum-Reserve of Tsaritsyno in 2016-2017, organized together with the State Museum-Reserve Tsarskoye Selo, the State Archive of the Russian Federation, the State Museum of State -The recovery of "Pavlovsk", the Novgorod Museum-Reserve
