This monograph is devoted to the late period of the work of the American prose writer Norman Meler. The book traces the features of the problems, poetics, and the sociocultural context of the novel prose of the writer of the 1980-2000s. This stage is conditionally distinguished in connection with the experience of Meler in line with new journalism, which, on the one hand, distinguishes the early and late novel periods of this author, on the other, transforms his creative method. The writer"s experiments with the genre of the novel are considered: a variation of a political novel, a journalistic novel-investigation, a documentary-mythological novel, a biographical novel, a parody novel, a documentary and fantastic novel
