Paul Valerie (1871–1945) is one of the most multifaceted figures in the culture of the twentieth century: the poet, essayist, thinker, playwright, but the main thing is the seeker of the keys to French and world culture, the master of complex ciphers and decryptions in which mathematics turned out to be the key to poetry , and the dance is the key to philosophy. The Russian reader met with the texts of this author thanks to the long -standing collection “Paul Valerie about art”, prepared by V. Kozov. In this publication, for the first time, Valerie was so fully revealed - the thinker and philosopher of European culture, which he perceived as a whole, as the stronghold of all Western and world civilization. The compiler and translator M. Taymanova carefully selected the author’s texts, so that carefully developed feelings, thoughts, impulses turn into food for the mind and for the soul. ” The book includes memories, dialogues, reflections on the method, literary, metaphysical and cultural-historical essays, aphoristic and fragments of the famous “notebooks”.
